The Department of Italian Studies at the University of Toronto has devoted great attention to the Favret mosaics over the past two years. The impressive mosaic produced by Mosaici Favret for the Cathedral of the Transfiguration in Markham (Ontario) plays a key role in the research project on the history of Italian, Russian and Canadian artists and craftsmen and their cultural contribution to the Canadian architecture conducted by Prof. Anna Makolkin, an authoritative Canadian historian.According to the scholar, this mosaic represents an important cultural contribution to Western art and she plans to document it in the most authentic way possible. So, she contacted the Favret company personally for photographs and materials. In addition to documenting the artistic contribution of the Italians in Canada, Prof. Makolkin will also devote a chapter of her book “Beautifying Toronto” to what she defines as a your marvelous work.
